STEPS Youth Program - Supporting Mental Health Through Social & Recreational Activities

Provided by Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) - North and West Vancouver Branch

Supports young people dealing with issues such as depression and anxiety by building wellness through social and recreational activities.
Through fun and challenging recreational activities, STEPS encourages youth to interact in a nurturing and non-judgemental environment while promoting healthy living habits. Activities like hiking, yoga and laser tag build self-confidence and strengthen both social and personal fitness goals. Activities and locations vary, bringing new STEPS adventures weekly.

The program touches on all aspects of wellness aiming to equip participants with understanding, skills and strategies for living and maintaining a mentally healthy lifestyle. An open group chat between the STEPS coordinator and participants keeps youth connected and supported throughout the week. One-on-one meet-ups are also offered as needed.
Offered from September to June, the STEPS program meets weekly.
STEPS is offered in two Cohorts:
  • Youth aged 13-18
  • Older youth aged 19-29
