Crisis and Victims Services - Sea to Sky

Various programs to help individuals and families manage crisis situations and to help victims of abuse.
The following programs are offered:
  • Women's Counselling: Provides lay counselling and support for women who are experiencing or who have experienced sexual assault, abuse, violence in a relationship, or childhood abuse or violence resulting in being traumatized from the experience.
  • Counselling Assistance Fund: Provides a subsidized confidential counselling with a registered Clinical Counsellor through the Counselling Assistance Fund offered to Pemberton and Squamish residents. The fund offers financial assistance to men (over 15 years of age), couples and families who could not otherwise afford to see a counsellor. The cost is $30 per one hour session, up to eight sessions. Registration required.
  • Community Victim Services: A free and confidential service in the Southern Stl’atl’imx Communities for women, men, youth and children who have been victims. They provide information, community referrals and emotional, practical and court support to victims of crime and trauma and their families.
  • Sexual Abuse Intervention Program: Provides therapeutic individual counselling and/or group therapy to children under 19 who have experienced sexual abuse or are suspected to have been sexually abused or assaulted. Counselling is also provided to non-offending parents, guardians and family members.
  • Family Preservation: Works with families whose children are at risk of being removed from or leaving their family or are already out of their family home. They work to keep children with their families and reduce the risk for child maltreatment by changing behaviours and increasing skills.
  • Homeless Prevention and Outreach: Offers free services that connect individuals to housing and income assistance where appropriate, as well as making links to emergency supports and assistance such as food, shelter, medical and legal services. Eligible for adults 19+ and families who are at risk of homelessness due to a variety of reasons, including finances, "couch-surfing", living in transitional housing, a crisis or an unbearable living situation, and those may be living in shelters or public facilities.
