Bladder Cancer Supportive Care Program

Provided by Vancouver Prostate Centre
One of the program's missions is to improve patient’s understanding of their disease and help them make the best decisions regarding their treatment. The hope is to better prepare patients who will be undergoing bladder removal surgery (cystectomy) or alternative treatment, and to enhance their recovery and return to daily life activities. They provide educational information and access to clinical care. Research is intimately built into this program, with the goal of continuously improving the resources and care we provide. There are eight modules offered:
- Introduction to Bladder Cancer & Primary Treatment Options
- Managing the Impact of Bladder Cancer on Sexual Function & Intimacy
- Movement and Exercise for Bladder Cancer Patients
- Nutrition Advice for Bladder Cancer Patients
- Wound, Ostomy and Continence Care
- Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy for Patients with Neo-Bladder and Bowel Management
- Counselling Services
- Metastatic Disease Management
Patients can self-refer to access the program, or be referred by their physician (a doctors’ referral is required for the sexual health services).
