Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) - Comox Valley

UPCCs provide care for non-emergency health concerns within 12 - 24 hours for individuals who cannot access their primary care provider or do not have one.
The Comox Valley UPCC offers same-day appointments for in-person and virtual care, and the clinic is open evenings and weekends. Walk-in appointments are not available, so please call to book an appointment: Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM, and Saturday through Sunday and statutory holidays from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM.

The Comox Valley UPCC is for people who need non-emergency medical care within 12 - 24 hours, including ailments such as:
  • Infections or abscesses
  • STI testing and treatment
  • Coughs, colds, and sore throat
  • Support and care after sexual assault
  • Ear infections, headaches, and fevers
  • Minor illnesses, fevers or infections in children
  • Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation
  • Pregnancy testing, and navigation through available options
  • Urinary tract infections (also available through pharmacy)
  • Skin conditions like rashes, skin irritation, minor wounds, itchy spots
  • Mental health concerns such as low mood, anxiety and depression
  • Allergic reactions or asthma (immediately call 911 if it is difficult to breath)
  • Minor injuries including sprains, strains, cuts requiring stitches, suture removal, and stabilization before hospital transport
NOTE UPCCs are not a replacement for routine care from a family physician, such as chronic disease management, prescription renewals, referrals, completion of medical forms (ex: PWD / Persons with Disability), or provision of doctors' notes. This clinic does not provide second opinions for ongoing issues. If you are unsure of the type of care you require, call 8-1-1 to speak with a nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Services NOT provided at UPCCs:
  • X-ray, ultrasound, medical imaging, or CT scanning or laboratory services
  • Intravenous therapy
  • Narcotics (opioids)
  • Prescriptions for narcotics or tranquilizers (benzodiazepines).

Clinic operates out of the Comox Valley Nursing Centre at 615-10th Street in Courtenay.
