The Cancer Information Service is a national, toll-free helpline available to cancer patients, caregivers, families and friends, the general public and healthcare professionals. By calling, individuals can talk to someone who will provide reliable, easy-to-understand cancer information and referrals to support services in the community. The following information can be provided:
- cancer treatment and side effects
- clinical trials
- coping with cancer
- emotional support services
- prevention
- help in the community
- complementary therapies
This service is available Monday to Friday and is available. A referral is not required to use this service. However, it is possible for a healthcare provider to submit a referral. This can be done by completing the referral form from the website.
